I was just trying to get to a mission in the city when I accidentally murdered a dude. The police chased me out of the city, and the city was made some sort of hot zone where I had to wait a long time or die before coming back. What a chore!

I'm a working man. I need to keep track of the time I waste on this bullshit. This is time poorly wasted.

The last time I played RDR2 I was in Saint Denis. I used the antagonize move on one of the NPCs, arthur called him a name, that was it. The NPC goes and reports this to the police, I get like a $70 bounty for disturbing the peace, and within seconds I am getting shot at by every single policeman in the whole city. fucking ridiculous. ended up just quitting the game and dont really have any motivation to play again for the time being lol

It's not that bad. You pretty much can't kill in towns and post offices are everywhere. Or you can lose a bit of money that is too easy to come by. Not a big deal.

I wouldn't have such a problem with it, but NPCs intentionally run or turn into. I swear they do. It's like in GTA when cars would intentionally try to hit you when you try to blow through street crossings. I've run into guys who were turning their horse into my path several times. I know it's on purpose cause there would be no reason for them to be turning at all. They do it on long straight roads with nothing branching off. Same goes for NPCs walking or leaping in front of your path.

Then there's not being able to defend yourself. Gamg members can start shit with you and eventually shoot you, but God forbid if you do the same or dare to defend yourself. I love the game, but screw the wanted system.

At least when it's something minor you can try to defuse the situation and get to move along. That is, if it wants to work. Then there are the times where they tell you to move along, but only give you 2 seconds to get out and then they immediately shoot at you.

whenever cops aggro me in saint denis I just go around on my horse killing every cop I see.

serves them right for trying to kill me over a five dollar disturbing the peace bounty

Meanwhile in Assassin's Creed Odyssey you can autotravel on your horse, run women and children over, and no one bats an eye lol

Well accidentally murdering someone is illegal.

Not sure what you want here. If you don't like it then wear a mask or use cheat codes

I would have preferred for the balance to be shifted more towards fun than realism.

Can anyone even explain how the bounty system in the game works? It barely seems consistent. Sometimes you can stop witnesses and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you get them after story missions and sometimes you don't. The amounts for your bounty seem almost random at times. No idea what a mask is supposed to accomplish.

Basically whenever I see one it means it's now my job to leave where I am and pay it off at a train station which isn't exactly a fun mechanic. Outside of that I seem to be at the mercy of the gods.

So just put a mask on or use cheats.......

This really isn't a hard problem to fix. Some people do want to play like actions have consequences

If you're wearing a mask and leave the area before the law shows up you won't get a bounty.

Im not going to say there were no instances where I was annoyed by the wanted system. But that was only a handful of times throughout a 60 hour playthrough. And even then, who cares? I have a bounty? I don't care, i'm playing a game about being an outlaw

this is my big issue here. we have 18 posts in this topic and it seems like nobody has a really solid grasp on how the system works. it's such a weak point for the game imo, especially since the whole point of RDR2 is to be an outlaw that commits crimes

Idk, maybe you accidentally knocked someone over or something while trying to get away. Running away doesnt make them shoot you, unless it bugged out or some shit

Sometimes it works great, other times not so much. It's very satisfying to slip away without a bounty even after the police are alerted to something you did. But other times it's unreasonable. Like the time I tried to enter San Denis with a $5 bounty on my head and they brought out every cop in the city to chase me down. Or last night when I killed a guy in the jail (legally) and wanted to see where the deputy was gonna dump the body. He warned me one time to stop following him, then immediately I got the Wanted prompt. It was a "Move Along" rather than a bounty, but it still shut Valentine down completely.

in the middle of nowhere way north of saint denis, haven't seen a soul for minutes. come across a guy that looks like he just killed a bunch of people and is looting a wagon.

"you should get on outta here-" suddenly he starts shooting before he even finishes his sentence. i easily kill him. just as i step off my horse suddenly a pack of 3 people come across the scene. they instantly scatter over the hills while arthur is taking forever to get back on the horse. suddenly get the law on me and a bounty. yay broken system

seems like the game goes outta it's way to punish you and spawns people to come across any crimes you commit, no matter how far away from towns you are.
