It just occurred to me; online multiplayer can have ping of 1-300 ms depending on how far away you are from the main server station, type of internet stability, etc. Playing multiplayer matches on Xbox Live or Steam with your buddies all day is probably a completely different feeling from a LAN match. The LAN matches would be instantaneous and have zero lag; thus making it feel completely different from playing online.

I just tested it by playing against bots offline in COD. It was a whole new game! It's hard to explain, but it was just so fast, my it markers felt responsive and smooth. SO to bring this all around my question. Would practicing online play have very little effect on your eSports play? Those pro teams probably practice offline play all day, as online won't mimic the feel of the world championship LAN tournaments.
