Bandaid solution. They'd run out eventually as well, especially with the increasingly growing population.

Unless you mean unlimited resources in which case... You'd have to ask someone who knows their comic lore.

Because he's a giant fucking idiot.

Why the fuck did he spent so many years sending henchmen to gather the stones when it took him like 3 hours by himself?

Why does he pose and shit?

In the comics he's trying to impress a chick. That's his only goal.

So his nonsense actions make more sense.

Calling Lady Death "some chick" is a bit of an understatement.

wouldn't snapping half the population also be a bandaid solution? people grew to those numbers and will grow to it again.

It may be echoing the comic version where Thanos is self defeating himself, and he subconsciously sets up his own failure.

More realistically in movie, he's a nihilist, or perhaps more accurately, a fatalist. He doesn't see that as a positive solution because we'd just grow into the new resources and the cycle would repeat, whereas by contrast, his lesson is harsh and makes a harsh point: keep population in check or you risk death of self or loved ones in a necessary culling.

It's reminiscent of an old sci fi radio play I listened to a while back where a scientist purposely scrapped warp travel because he felt if mankind wasn't faced with the harsh choice now about controlling their population, they'd always look for the easy way out and just make things worse over time just expecting a way out to present itself.

Movies gauntlet hasn't created anything and has severe limitations. It's likely not possible.

Even if it was, it's not feasible and doesn't make sense. Doubling resources just means there's more to use so people use more. He'd be constantly doubling it. And making it unlimited just means people get lazy and fat which isn't really what he wanted.

It's also not perfectly balanced, which he harps on a lot.

And doubling resources looks goofy. You're basically making the universe expand or making everything replenish indefinitely.

It only shows that the effects work when he is nearby. When he portals out, the reality warping goes away. Also the gauntlet fried after using it to its fullest potential, who knows how much power it would take to keep making stuff and have it last.

It's important to realize that Thanos is a bloody-minded psychopath. Maybe he could increase the resources available, but Thanos views the horrific trauma of all that death as vital to his goals. Thanos himself came to his way of thinking only through trauma, and thus he likely believes that's the only path to "enlightenment".

No. The MCU Gauntlet does not equal the Comics Gauntlet. The MCU Gauntlet nearly destroys itself just removing half of the sentient life in the universe. It would probably vaporize itself trying to create that much new matter and energy.

I've also pointed out before that the MCU Gauntlet also seems to have an area of effect. Notice that whenever Thanos uses the Gauntlet to change reality, as soon as he leaves, reality resets to normal. The first time reality permanently changes is during the snap. And that nearly destroys the gauntlet.
