Ambien.

Don't do this. Ambien is an antipsychotic and you can develop a dependency.

Don't do sleeping pills in general. As someone who once had a dependency on this shit, getting off it was one of the worst feelings I ever had in my life.

If you absolutely need help sleeping, try warm milk or melatonin.

melatonin

It is safe...and trippy for me.
Though after a few days, I feel a sort of hangover effect.

I go between that and just basic otc sleeping pills, which are basically just antihistamine's

you guys dont seem to realize that melatonin is well regulated in the body.

but no thats too hard for you to understand and you guys have to gang up on me because its fun for you. its the equivalent of a man who doesnt have primary hypogonadism taking trt, its not needed and you will have problems down the line.

Melatonin works well for me. Sometimes Benadryl if I'm really restless.

Melatonin comes in 1mg, 3mg, 5mg, and 10mg tab forms so start low

If the body isn't producing enough of its own, why is taking a supplement every so often a bad thing?

Legitimately curious since I relied on small doses of melatonin during my third shift years.

Do chamomile tea.

Only works if it's loose leaf tea and you need to drink a lot and you end up waking up to pee.

Firstly make sure you have good sleep hygiene. Dim the lights an hour before bed. No electronics in bed. Bed only used for sex and sleep. Sleep at the same time every day. No coffee past noon. Exercise early in the day. Etc you can google more sleep hygiene stuff.

Secondly, I find that warm milk helps me sleep faster, but studies have not shown that it makes a difference. Its probably just psychological for me at this point. You could also try a weighted blanket if you have anxiety. Theres some early studies that show that it might help calm anxiety and help you sleep better. But people telling you to eat sugary stuff does not actually work. Sugar would keep you awake if anything.

Third, melatonin or benadryl can help. Would not recommend this for prolonged daily use. No melatonin does not damage your brain like some people above have said. But dont overdose melatonin either. If you do use it, try the absolute smallest dose possible. I mean like take a 1 or 3 mg tablet, and nibble off a little piece, ~0.3-0.5 mg worth and try that first.

Fourth, would not recommend ambien unless you're have major issues sleeping, you have diagnosed anxiety with insomnia, possibly depression, and you've tried all other methods and nothing works.....AND it interferes with your work. Only in that case would I say you could try ambien.

It really doesn't, but at least in my case it helps me stay asleep. I always feel more rested within the same amount of time than without it. 3-4 hours of solid sleep can be more restful than 8 hours of tossing and turning.

I used benadryl for years. it'll knock you out, but it's not super restful. and waking up before it clears out is miserable. it also builds up a tolerance super fast, so it's not good for regular use.
