A lot of children look forward to visiting Santa during the holidays, but one North Carolina boy said he was fat-shamed by Kris Kringle.

Anthony Mayse, 9 , and his mother Ashley said they met Saint Nick over the weekend in Forest City, near Asheville.

Mayse was sitting on Santa's lap asking for an iPod Touch and a drone when his mother said he was body shamed.

"Very rude. I've never seen anything like it," said Ashley Mayse.

"And when I got done, he said 'lay off the hamburgers and French fries,'" Anthony explained. "And that really just disrespected me and I felt awful."

The town manager said Santa apologized to both the supervisor and the Mayse family. Officials didn't say if any disciplinary action was taken.

When Santa tells you, you are fat. There's a problem.

He didn't fat shame him. He gave him a life hack. He'll be healthier and more happy with that advice, not to mention live longer.

You know you're scratching the bottom of the barrel for "oppression" to complain about when you have to resort to crying about "fat shaming".

When it's kids, it's "bullying" but if it were adults, it's stalking, harassment, assault, criminal threats and just general abuse. -Tmk

Are you guys for real? That's extremely inappropriate for an adult to say to a child in most circumstances... let alone when he's expected to be professional. He could have said something like "get out there and play in the snow" if he genuinely wanted to have a positive impact. This is just being a garbage person.

I wouldn't call being a Mall Santa a professional job.

Santa calling someone fat is fair game, he himself can still fit through chimneys.

That would be if his support system didn't take him home and baby him with ice cream to make him feel better. At 9 years old it's completely the parents fault. If I had a kid that was getting pudgy I would bring up all the stuff fat people can't do daily and other stuff they go through. And then give him all the tools to prevent it. If he is still fat at 17 then I probably accept it and let him do as he wants without the daily reminders.
