Just to be clear: I really like III, I is okay for just a mindless grind, and II has my favorite minor-ish character (Minwu) at least. XIII is the only one I wholly disliked.

I still like Dirge of Cerebus but Im not sure its fair to list games I've played for less than a dozen hours after it.
Could never get into the SNES games, tried TA2 and kinda hated it.
World of FF would be alright if it wasn't slow, holding the fast-forward button that much hurts my finger.

Just figured I'd throw it in since it's the only other Square RPG game I've played.

Fun fact, Square also made a pair of racing games for NES that were super legit. Rad Racer and Rad Racer II.

Just based off of overall enjoyment, so a mixture of how much I liked the gameplay, story and characters. Some games are ranked purely for gameplay since I didn't give a shit about the characters, while others are carried by the story.

Not a fan of turn-based. Feels dumb to see characters stand in a row just duke it out. At least in srpgs it has more depth, with position and elevation. That's just me tho.

What are your opinions about having a limited Item space in a game you need select items to complete missions?

Unless you look at a guide, how the hell are you supposed to know which Items you must keep and which ones will come around again?

That's something I'd call bad game design. Although to be fair, I did use a guide on that game to snatch equipment as early as possible to lategame skills, IIRC, Mithrill to get Ultima? And also missables. I often do my research on those for these kinds of games.

Anywho, I stand by my list. Spent like, 200-300 hrs on that game leveling up that stat increasing sword and armor.
