Second floor. Pretty sure it's a British/American English difference. Americans consider the ground floor to be the first one, Brits consider the....first not-ground floor to be the first one.

I personally don't understand why Brits see it that way but oh well

It's not the Brits, it's the rest of the world lol. Everywhere else the 1st floor is the , you know, FIRST floor above the ground level, since the ground isn't considered a "floor".

Technically, it's the second, but it depends on the building and its purpose. Hotels and apartments tend to make the it the first, because the entrance is considered the lobby/ground level, and separate.

I say second floor, annoyingly in the country I live in, it's referred to the first floor. "Ground floor" is what's referred to as the floor you're on when you entere the building here.

obviously whichever one i'm used to and grew up saying is the best one duh

Depends on the building, and what floor I enter on.

The other day I entered a building on the 3rd floor as one of its entrances was higher than the base floor. Heck I was in another building thats elevator was listed like this

Unless when you walk into a building you are stepping onto grass or bare dirt, then that is the first floor of the building. Just because it is the ground floor even with the outside doesn't change the fact that it is still physically the first actual floor in the building itself.
