Beep loudly would work, but is tech at the stage. Could speakers handle the heat?

What plastic are you thinking about using? Plastics tend to have very poor thermal conductivity properties.

Most plastics are toxic, and can leech in water, especially when it's hot. Also, boiling water is hot enough to kill most electronics.

A digital thermometer can already do that m8. Clip it on, set desired temp & it beeps.

You can even get bluetooth thermometers.

But yeah, plastics tend not to do well at high temperatures and with extreme temperature changes.
