I'm the exact opposite. I don't really like most of Nolan's movies, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

My parents think it's a sequel to the martian, all because of Matt Damon. When I tried to explain why it's not due to the situation on earth and the time lines they seemed so lost. So I gave up and just said "it's not connected outside of both involving space people"

at least they didn't think that The Martian was based on a true story..... tragically, that's a misconception some people had.

as for Interstellar, i enjoyed it when i watched it, but i don't think it's a movie i'll ever want to see more than once. it had really great aspects to it, but the whole thing about love being a scientifically quantifiable force or whatever was really one of the downright stupidest things i've ever heard in fiction.

I dont even remember that. I must have ignored it.

The movie was on TV just a couple of weekends ago (we have it on Blu-Ray too). I found myself wondering whether the writers intention was that the future beings used a black hole to house their tesseract or whether their future-technology tesseract actually created the black hole in our time frame.

I dont think the overall idea is that far-fetched either way. The point was that they (humans, led by Murph) figured out how to manipulate gravity, which in reality behaves in a manner just about as weird as any storyline. Weve done things in the real world at least as far fetched as communicating across time via someones bedroom. So I was okay with that particular aspect of the story.

blade runner 2049 is another film that deserves to be on the running for best film this decade

Honestly, I laughed when I read what you wrote. We haven't done anything even remotely close to communicating through time in this manner, and it's bizarre to see someone say we have.

i'm not sure if you've seen the film first man which was released earlier this year, but someone on youtube put the music from first man (which is a lot better imo) over the docking scene of interstellar and it sounded

I can't imagine the music being better. The scene is basically made whole by the pounding tones.

I haven't seen First Man yet, but will once it's released digitally and check the remixed video out
