We did not kill the lobsters before they were boiled.

I couldn't even sleep last night.

There was nothing you could do. Theyre up in lobster heaven now doing whatever it is lobsters do.

The drop itself doesn't hurt them, but the boiling water might.

A quick google suggests yes.

And also that it's easy enough to quickly kill one before cooking it.

Yeah, thought I read that somewhere that they've recently discovered that lobsters are aware enough that it's fucking painful as shit being chucked into a boiling pot of water and the more "humane" thing to do is the ol knife to the head to kill it first.

The one silver lining about a lobster feeling extreme pain before death is that it at least it makes him look forward to death. I'm not saying it's better overall, but it's at least something.

Also, I agree with one of the earlier posters that the pain definitely adds a bit of flavor. I'm not sure how it works scientifically, but it's definitely a thing.

Always heard the opposite. If things are stressed before death it makes it shittier since they're tenses up and all that.... But that's always been for mammals, not sure cartlidge or whatever crustaceans have would be similar to muscle.

They scream when they're put in the pots so yes, I'd assume. As for being inhumane, that's not really in the equation. You're gonna have to kill it one way or the other.

Lobsters lack the necessary organs to scream. What you are hearing is the sound of steam escaping their shells.

This.

Does a gazelle feel pain when a lion tears its throat out?
Animals eat animals, and the process is expedited by the eaten animal becoming dead shortly before.

They're both crustaceans and it's not inconceivable that they have similarities since one looks like a miniature version of the other.
