Current Events > Where's better for a few days? LA or San Francisco?

Never been to either but because of stupid shit I did drunk back in April I sort of have to pick one to have Christmas in. I'm looking forward to it but haven't got a clue which to pick.

We're flying into San Diego from the UK on the 20th. The plan was to fuck about in California for three weeks but I can't afford the time so need to get back around the 27th / 28th - so I was thinking just spend a few days chilling in San Diego then go to LA or SF for a few days.

What does CE reckon of this stupid bunch of shit?

i was in both a few months ago. i really loved san fran but it was super expensive. but it was a lot better and the people were more chill than in LA

I'm from L.A. so I can be accused of bias. Much more to do here than in San Francisco. Los Angeles is huge though. You can spend a few days seeing only the beach cities. It takes a week to really see all the city has to offer.

You can do almost everything there is to do in San Francisco in a few days.

SF has a slight edge on things to do
LA has a slight edge on food to eat

If you're into it, weed is freely available in LA & SF also (not that it was hard to get here before 1996 anyway). You can even have it delivered in LA at least, just like a pizza.

Also SF is COLD. Forget anything you heard about sunny California in San Francisco.

You can in SF as well. Pretty much all of the dispensaries in the Bay do deliveries.

The bay area is the only part of California I've been though, so no comment on Los Angeles.

It depends on what metric you're using. San Francisco and LA are crowded as fuck and San Francisco isn't cheap at all. You're better off in Oakland or *shudder* San Jose if you're trying to visit San Fran. Even then, once you get past seeing the bridge and Alcatraz and seeing where sourdough bread came to be, you're pretty much done with San Fran while still having exorbitant bills. Oh yeah, there's the forests north of there, but that's not a good spot to be at atm with the wildfires. At least LA has a lot more sights, but it's even worse than San Fran on traffic.

Besides, it's not like you can't just drive the PCH in between LA and San Diego. And the beaches in San Diego... or at least that part of the state are delicious.

I do agree LA is easier with someone who knows their way around. It's huge like Tokyo. SF is small enough to figure out on your own.

I also agree with not listening to the incels, and apparent hillbillies on CE.

Some conflicting advice here. I like places that are a bit of a dump and you end up getting wasted with tramps in bus stops.

LA is scaring me with the size of the place, it looks like I'd need to hire a car to see all the stuff. San Diego looks like a good place to do nothing. San Francisco looks good for a few days.

The US cities I've been to are NY, Boston, Chicago, Vegas and Detroit. I've enjoyed everywhere I've been really. Even this little town called Burlington was cool. Wish I could stay for the three weeks and do a road trip.

You would definitely need a car in Los Angeles. And some one to show you around. Traffic is manageable when you know what you're doing or with someone who does.

Just for reference:

San Francisco, Boston, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Clevelandplus the island of Manhattan, can all fit within Los Angeles city limits at the same time.
