My history class was this: Ancient Egypt, greece and Rome.

That was it.

We taked a little bit about the middle ages, but not enough for it to be in the exam. And we didn't have time to do anything more modern, like actual canadian history, because we spent too much time discussing Egypt and it fucked up the curriculum

It was supposed to be: Egypt, greece, Rome, middle ages, and then canadian history in the end. That didn't happen.

So I got out of high school not even knowing that there was such a thing as the canadian charter of rights and freedoms

In my America school, we ONLY did US history but it was all pre WW2 for some reason

I would have loved world history. I like Rome and medieval stuff

Dude I fucking remembered we had one year dedicated to "world history" and half of that shit was European stuff. We barely learned about the rest of the world at all. The rest of the time was American history. We even had a whole damn year for Georgia history.

My school had a course specifically called Canadian History. It was 80% aboriginal, 20% how our prime minister got voted in.

History is just stupid books full of half truths. Aren't people relearning stuff that they learned in High School because of false documented shit?

Am I pulling this out my ass?

Only year that kids learn modern Canadian history here in BC is grade 10. I just finished the 30s with my group.

I recall being briefly taught about colonization in Canada during high school, but honestly it couldn't have been more than a section.

this is hilarious because it just stops at "will be reunited someday"

an accurate reflection of how old textbooks are in a lot of american schools.
