The scene where Piccolo reams Goku for not helping Gohan while Cell was kicking his ass just doesn't sound as intense. Streamlining and consolidating it is a great idea for people wanting to go back through the show quicker. But between the acting and writing differences, it's just missing some "oomph" behind it.
