I asked to not be put under, he said that he prefers to put his patients under.. I need all four wisdom teeth, plus one extraction. Are 5 teeth total a feasible operation with just laughing gas? Because they use laughing gas if not general anesthesia.. I dont understand why theyre pressuring me to go under. I called one other oral surgeon and they said that they as well like to do general anesthesia if all four wisdom teeth are coming out. Its a lot more expensive this way...

Get a second opinion. They're pressuring you because it's more money for them. Most people don't even need the wisdom teeth removed in the first place.

I got gassed hard when they yanked mine. I had all four done around 15 years ago, when I was 19.

The good news, I healed fast, and had like no complications. EZ.

Bad part, I don't respond well to the gas. There's a hole in my memory for the entire operation. I vaguely remember walking out. About half way home, I start accusing my mom and dad of kidnapping me. I don't remember anything for the next 24 hours.

I had some surgery on my nose this summer, and I was put under general anesthesia. I handled it far better than gas. I remember them telling my arm might burn when the meds hit, and I remember laughing and saying yeah, it hurts a little. Then nothing. I remember waking up on the gurney. I went to stay with my parents for the surgery, and my mom drove me home. I was lucid enough within an hour to drive, if I had wanted to.

My experience, I prefer general to gas.

Do you need general for this? No clue. I just know my experience with gas was far more negative than general.

I had the general anesthesia when I had my 4 wisdom teeth taken out. My oral surgeon was fine either way but recommended the general if you haven't had heavy dental work before and don't know what to expect

More cash for them. When I got mine out, I was under the impression that it was covered by my insurance. It wasn't. I ended up owing $450 out of pocket.

i got 4 out at once and all i got was local anesthetic (Novocaine)

i felt crazy pressure but no pain

This tbh. I never understood why people get put under just to get teeth removed. The pressure can be uncomfortable but it's not like unbearable.

My insurance didnt cover the laughing gas but did cover the general anesthesia for some reason.

I got 4 teeth pulled on laughing gas and local anesthesia. Didnt feel shit but they didnt have to drill or anything.

Im stressed. I need this done this Friday and idk which route to take.

You know videos where they act all loopy and say weird things that people find funny; is that a side effect of general anesthesia or is it laughing gas?

This. Three pulled, one cut out, just local. No pain, but the doc practically had his knee braced on my chest to pry 'em out.

I got gassed and was violently allergic to it. Like my stomach tried to vomit out its lining for 12 hours solid and I couldn't even keep water down. It only stopped when I went to the ER and got some sort of sedative for it.

I got all four removed before they had emerged so they had to be cut out. One or two were impacted so he had to break them up with a chisel and take out the pieces. I was put under completely which I'm happy for because I feel like that could've been traumatic.

Well I did it.. despite overwhelming pressure from the office, I showed up without anyone to assist me. Because I was alone, no one could drive me, and I said that I can only do nitrous oxide. A lot of pressure, crackling, my left side hurt meagerly when being pulled, while the right side did not hurt at all. I wonder why...

Do I think that getting put under is necessary? Absolutely freaking not. People need to grow a pair. If you cant take this, you probably have never been in a simple fist fight. Or your older siblings never beat you up lol. Its rough around the edges but you toughen up and get things done.

Youd have to be an idiot to not understand that I was criticising the use of general anesthesia for teeth.
