Most PhD programs waive tuition and pay you a stipend for teaching/research.

Im almost certainly gonna go in grad school, though its some time away. My degree has a program to take a few classes as an undergrad, for undergrad tuition. So thats nice, but Im afraid Im underestimating how bad the cost will be once Im actually in grad school.

christ, thats painful. Honestly if I even want a chance to get a job out of my state, I pretty much need a Masters. Then I gotta do the CPA would could be expensive if Im not working somewhere that helps us with that.

my employer pays 100% of my grad school tuition, but only up to $4k per year. program im looking at is like $1k a credit with 33 credits, so maybe my company is covering one course. kind of lame. might have to look for a cheaper program but this one i found is exactly what im into

yea im starting to feel like if i want to take my career to the next level i need an MA to give me that much more of an edge to get where i want to be. i have not heard fun things about the CPA exam, and id imagine it really only helps if you are doing public accounting. that being said i know people who sat for the test and maintain their CPA cert because they say it just makes them look impressive on a resume, regardless of whether they use it or not

Yeah, Im still deciding on the whole public vs private thing. Private is generally more consistent but pays well, and is also known to be more repetitive, but it still might be nicer for me. The CPA would surely help me out even if it is just for the resume.

it's a hybrid type of program that focuses on business & IT. so you have classes on corporate finance, accounting, etc but also more advanced IT concepts, seems like everything you need for IT management from a business perspective

generally what i hear recommended is that you go public for like 5 years when you're young, and then get out and go private afterwards and probably get fast tracked a bit from having that audit experience. but i had friends working at big 4 firms and they basically had no life outside of work, especially during tax season
