Yeah, it's fun. Honestly, most of the critical fan base are just mouthy little shits. They complain about how the game is ruined every time a new update hits, only to sink another 100 hours into it. They also expect a constant stream of brand new content for free, and that's just ridiculous.

The game isn't spectacular, but it's fun and well executed. I'm sure by the the time that 3 rolls out, people will yell about how 2 was so much better and how 3 is horrible and they aren't going to play it. And then they'll do the same with the next game.

I understand the criticisms. I only played vanilla Destiny 1, so moving onto 2 felt fresh and improved. Allegedly, the expansions in D1 improved the game a lot, so to most who played the expansions felt like D2 was a downgrade in terms of content.

While the expectation that vanilla D2 somehow surpass D1 with years of content additions was a bit naive, I can understand their frustrations because why not just continue adding to the D1 platform? Designing an entirely new game was most certainly a business decision.

D2 as a stand alone game provided enough content for your typical AAA title. But to fans of the first title, it felt more like a $60 expansion pack.

I hear the opinions of the game are more favorable now with this recent expansion. I imagine if there is ever a D3, there will be a repeat of history. D3 content won't match what D2 developed into over the years and you'll get more disgruntled fans, but the company will have made their money.

Its fun, but what ultimately killed it for me was the "log in, do your weeklies on tuesday, and log out for six days" followed up with "here's a cool exotic weapon we know you'll want but we locked it behind a dozen monotonous activities that don't even make sense lore-wise" shtick.

This is fair. I'm just digging the gun mechanics so much that I can't imagine getting tired of it. It almost feels therapeutic.

Seriously though, I know nothing after only playing for like 4 hours.

you're gonna wake up when you hit the arbitrary cap that forces you to spend money on the expansions in order to progress.

it's a bit easier to swallow now though since they included season 1 expansions with forsaken.

the idiot in me took advantage of the 50% discount for season 1 pass($20) right before forsaken was released and it left me very bitter that i still have to put out $40 to progress any further.

it's a really good game imo, has the skinner box satisfaction of WoW with the gameplay of Halo. i really like the public events & the new gambit mode is a blast.

i also enjoy how the grind is presented. you pretty much dont have to do anything you dont want to, grind-wise. with a lot of other MMO-type of games the grind is the entire point, but not so much in D2.

just want to play the story and do pvp? fine. want to spend hours and hours trying to get some gun or piece of armor, go for it.

some caps are much easier to swallow than others, hence arbitrary.

Most of the squealing about it around release was about some kind of drama that I don't even remember. But yeah, it's very fun. I like the world design and controls a lot more than borderlands

not until you've gotten past the honeymoon period.

basically the time where you stop getting reliable upgrades from anything that isn't the weekly strike or end game raids.

normal strikes or regular pvp matches etc. also don't give you upgrades past this point. maybe it was changed after forsaken but i doubt it.

if you can stomach that type of grind then you should get forsaken.

Borderlands has clunky to average gameplay mechanics but top notch loot.

Borderlands 2 and PreSequel play alot smoother, but the loot system was trashed in favor of a BIGGER NUMBERS = BETTER system.

Destiny plays smooth as fuck but the loot system is so bad I've needed to trick myself into thinking of Destiny as a pure shooter to keep playing it.

God damn we need Borderlands 3, and we need it to be good.

I got it for $10 earlier this year and it's one of the most nothing games I've played in a while. Like, I don't even hate it, it just was so average that it left no impression whatsoever. I thought the first game was better, though.

Iirc the vanilla soft cap is 260 or 265. If you're still enjoying the game after 2 weeks of slower grinding unless you are raiding and doing every daily and weekly, buy the expansion.

Just finished grinding my third character to 50 so I can do end game content with everyone now at almost max light.

Lawd almighty

I did that in Warmind but it got to be too much doing three sets of weeklies and raids. @_@

Not sure what I'd stick with if I ever get forsaken though.

The "grind" is actually not as bad as people make it sound. I have yet to raid and I'm 600 on all 3 characters. And there are so many milestones, you can skip a ton and still make decent progress in only a few hours.

Also, can we stop using "grind" as a synonym for "playing"? There's only 1 positive connotation with grinding, and is has jack shit to do with video games. If playing is such a chore, you should probably play something else.

The level 30 to 50 stretch is tedious if you're intentionally trying to avoid doing dailies and weeklies until 50 for the powerful engrams boost. Thankfully, running a friend through the vanilla story and legacy strikes doesn't count as progression for those weeklies. If I could choose when to pick up my daily or weekly engrams instead of auto collecting from strikes, crucible, and gambit completion, it would give more options for leveling.

Getting to 600 is much easier with all the available content to run. I'm throwing my 600 weapons on characters as they hit 50 then buying blue armor until I can't raise it anymore then doing the dailies and weeklies. Hoping to get my 600 titan mark on reset then expect hunter and warlock to hit 600 within the next week or two.

Well it kinda sucks to think I would be dropping $40 on this, then have to spend another $40 in another month to keep up. Or I get the pass thing which will give me the next expansion along with Forsaken for $70 now.

Neither option seems very worth it to me. =/ although I am having fun hunting down exotics and stuff.
