1980 to 2000 seems like the obvious answer but i know some people don't like the idea of a millennial being born after the new millennium.

People born in 2000 are not millennials. They are Gen Z.

Gen Y can be 1980-1994, +-1-2 years. There probably isn't one specific figure, but 80s to mid 90s is typically the universally agreed age range of gen Y. 20-35 age range --- Less is more.
