I didn't even know Pennsylvania still allows capital punishment.

I, for one, am against capital punishment, but this guy is really making me think twice about my position.

I'm against the death penalty in general so no.

At this point, I just want whatever is cheapest. He serves no positive for the world, takes up money, and was better off never existing.

If it's cheaper to kill him, fine. If it's cheaper to cage him, fine. If a cop decides to leave a noose in his cell, that's fine as well.

Do i care about this one specific man? No. But I am morally opposed to the state executing people. And I stick to that no matter what. I think the death penalty should be banned

Why though? Horrible people like serial killers and child molesters dont deserve to live. The world is better off without them

Mistakes can and so happen. Maliciously as well. Nor does killing someone actually resolve or fix the crime. It's revenge, rather than justice.

Also should the state have authority over life for people regardless?

Your options don't really cover all the bases. I don't want the death penalty, because I feel he should live out his days thinking about what happened and, hopefully, one day realizing his error and punishing himself worse than any of us ever could.

I dunno. Prison doesnt seem that bad if you think about it. You get free meals so you never have to worry about going hungry. You have a roof over your head and dont have to worry about paying rent. You have all the time in the world to focus on getting in shape or catching up on literature. And if you join a prison gang then you dont have to worry that much about getting raped or shanked. Overall, it doesnt seem like a fitting punishment for certain crimes

It doesnt fix the crime but the families of his victims would feel some satisfaction over the fact that hes no longer walking the earth. Revenge is justice sometimes

PA technically still has the death penalty, but it's been well over 50 years since they last time they used it. It's very, very rare, and always has been

That's not necessarily true. They may actually want to die because they feel they are going to become martyrs for their cause, in which case you are playing into their hands. Leaving them alive and in a secure location has no downside. If they never realize the error of their ways, they have to sit and do nothing. If they do realize, they spend the rest of their lives tortured by their own conscious and working towards trying to find some redemption. Unless them being alive puts more people at risk, I just don't see how it's a worse punishment.

He would suffer longer if kept alive, but that costs money.
