Didn't like that it was a "happy" ending given the overall tone of the series. Call me an edgelord or whatever but I thought an unhappy ending was the most fitting way to end the show. Whether they all die or become ghosts in the house forever...it felt "right" to have it end like that.

Seemed odd to make it a happy ending. Yes the father Hugh sacrificed himself but you knew he was gonna do something to "fix it" as he kept saying throughout the series.

It was nice to see the family finally conquer their demons and come together but the ending felt flat for me. Just my opinion. Curious to hear everyone else's.

I feel like the only person who didn't think it was a happy ending. It had some happy tropes, but overall it was a dark and twisted ending. The house even seduced the old couple at the end to come into the house and die. It played off like a happy thing, but that fucking house certainly tricked them just like it tricked everyone else into being trapped in that house for eternity.

It was dark af.

Yeah I think the ending is probably the weakest. Even if you argue that it was actually dark, I feel like the overall presentation made it seem happy. Like they didn't suggest it was dark, it seemed like a total switch to the house being benevolent.

How quaint.

The neighbors just wanted to be with their deceased daughter. They also begged Hugh not to burn the house down for that reason. They wanted to be there at the end.

I saw it coming that the groundskeepers wanted the house to be with their daughter, but still thought it was dumb that they just kinda went full 'wtf I love this haunted house now' after they new it was actual cursed, avoided it constantly after dark, and were fully aware that the spirits trapped there all become malign eventually.

move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. Have sheep troopers squadrons A and B flank the cows. They're using DC-17 hoof blasters.

trying to figure out a way to fight that really tall ghost guy with the cane

he actually was a regular dude that worked/lived in the house. You see him at the end standing alongside all the other ghosts when Steve is leaving the house for good.

It was actually a breath of fresh air that they ended it in one season closing up all the questions.

Tired of shows milking every little god damn thing with Sequels and shit.

The quality was perfect. This thing ended on top.

The series creator Mike Flanagan wanted the vertical window of the Red Room to be in the background of the happy 2 year sobriety for Luke/Leigh pregnant scene, to indicate they never left the room, but changed it the night before they filmed.
