Because haunting films don't usually have rules for how the demon's power works. Generally the demon or ghost can do whatever it wants with no consistency from scene to scene.
If anything this was just meant to show the wife had absolutely no understanding of what she was dealing with and had already lost. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
