SS began the trend of dumbing down world building, character building, and gameplay. Delirious_Beard 10/18/18 9:43:57 PM #37:	banjo tooie is a game that is more interested in padding out the experience than delivering an enjoyable one. almost every single level of design is made the way it is as if to say "how can we drag this out as long as possible?" the addition of playable mumbo serves no purpose. he literally only exists to waste your time. he's not fun to play, plays the exact same way the entire game, and is just there so you have to run back and forth between his hut once you've used all his stupid pads. the worlds in tooie are also way bigger, but that in no way is a good thing in this case. they're some of the worst levels in any 3D platformer. barren wastelands that are difficult to navigate due to issues like flat terrain, lack of landmarks and reused textures. Terrydactyland really takes the cake here. i consider it the magnum opus of bad 3D platformer level design. there is literally nothing good about it. even the music sucks. the issue of these wasteland levels is exacerbated by the problem of there being less stuff to collect. way less individual notes to collect, and the same amount of jiggies to collect. oh and the process of getting some of these jiggies, man. take the worst kind of backtracking you can imagine and add it into your already bloated, barren game. there's also so many gimmicks and mini-games in the game that you'll very rarely ever acquire jiggies by any natural means, ie platforming and exploring. the contrast in this between tooie and the original is staggering. know what helped make the original kazooie so great? being able to get everything in a level your first time through. there's only one example of backtracking in the entire game and it's a more enjoyable experience because of it. grunty industries is a p infamous level as well. it's not good, but it at least distinguishes its areas via separate floors so you're not exposed to the entire level at once, and there's some neat puzzle elements in play. it's just way too fucking big given how little collectibles it contains . the game also runs like total shit, with frame drops all over the damn place --- https://i.imgtc.com/hB9W4JK.gif "Does our ruin benefit the earth?
