Here's your first look at Idris Elba as the villain in Hobbs & Shaw, the upcoming spinoff to the Fast and the Furious Franchise.

Dwayne The Rock Johnson has posted a picture to his Instagram welcoming Elba to the cast alongside some information on the role he plays.

"I learned a long time ago (when I was a very sinful eyebrow raising villainous man in the crazy world of pro wrestling;) that heroes are only as great as their greatest villains." says Johnson.

"A pleasure to introduce the man himself @idriselba we brought in to our Fast & Furious franchise to wreak havoc, hell and mayhem on our heroes HOBBS & SHAW. The name: BRIXTON. The record: UNDEFEATED. The promise: SHOWDOWN OF ALL SHOWDOWNS."

This isn't the first time Johnson has shown us a sneaky look at the new film via his Instagram. Just last week the star posted a sneak peak of himself and Jason Statham (as a now-reformed Shaw) from the set.

Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch directs the film which is currently slated for an August 2019 release.

I'm still mad at him for ruining the dark tower. Wire was still great though. Mediocre talent for a mediocre movie franchise

Did he ruin it or the writers/director?

The writers and director. He was good in the role. The plot was just lame and the visuals and tone were off

Roland was a white guy with blue eyes. The complete opposite of who he was. The movie had pacing issues but the character should at least fit the role

Therefore he is a mediocre actor and ruined the film himself

Well I didn't think he was good in that film. I liked him in the wire. Maybe it has to do with people having roles that fit them. I dunno. He was a problem with the film but not the only problem by a long shot.

No. You spend 1000s of pages reading a huge saga and you get an idea and read a person is a certain way and when a director can't even stick to source material, it shows the kind of movie it would be. I wouldn't want Betty white playing Suzy either

I thought Elba did an alright job but the movie was just alright. Even though I never read the books, I can sympathize, adaptations where they make such drastic changes never turn out good.
