I finally faced my fear and went. It was a dive bar and there were only five dudes there plus the bartender. I stayed long enough for one drink and left. One of the men was only in his underwear so that was interesting.

I've thought about going, but I'm anxious enough that I probably won't do it.

It doesn't help that I'm unattractive and cripplingly shy from being raised without knowing many people outside of my family for the first several years of my life. Knowing me, I'd probably end up just drinking alone in the corner without talking to anyone the whole time.

I've been scared of going for a long time. I'm not out to my family yet so my biggest fear was running into a coworker or family member in the area. I'm not even sure when I'll ever try again. I hope you find the courage one day.

Most of my friends are pretty openly homophobic tbh. I live in southern Missouri, it's not a very pro-gay place.

Hell, my grandma routinely bashes Ellen DeGeneres for being a lesbian and talks about wanting to beat her for it. I don't know that I'd feel comfortable asking anyone I know to go with me.

Thanks. Yeah, I think it's something I may do if I ever move to a bigger city or something, but for now I'd have too many concerns about going. We'll see.
