80/80 booyakasha

Seriously, most games these days you play as basically a floating camera and it sucks. At least some of the FPSs like Battlefield try to make you feel like youre actually inside a character, but most do not. Even in the majority of 3rd person games your hero is way too floaty.

Ive missed out on so many great games because Ill sit down with them and instantly be put off by the way it feels simply to be inside your avatar.

The shame is that a character with some heft and weight to him/her can be very satisfying. Ive been playing Breath of the Wild lately and Im really impressed with the way Link moves around the world. Part of that is the excellent physics system they created for the game but his movements just feel very tight and you feel very in control.

Other game studios TAKE NOTE!

P.S. I think part of why Im obsessed with sports games (2K mostly) is that they tend to try to make the players tangible and relatable to the environment.

Also 3D games have been mainstream for over 20 years and they still can't figure out how to program a camera that doesn't get caught up in objects all the time and obscure what you want to see

well unless youve worked in a development studio, but video games are hard to make as simple as that

It's because some people get motion sickness when they add "weight" to a camera or try to make it realistic.

they do that because when games like Witcher 3 try to make their characters control more 'realistically', people complain because they're tedious to play. If I want to go left, make me go left FFS. I do'nt want to go forward and to the left like a boat.

no..not off the cliff..no...noooooooo

I hate Witcher IIIs player control. Should try to be more like Zelda next time, thanks.

honestly it's why I hate flying planes and shit in games. I don't want to use a rudder and having to worry about pitch and yaw, just let me use the analog sticks to control my movement and camera like every other aspect of gaming

I can't say I've ever skipped a game because the camera / player movement didn't "feel right". Seems like something you're blowing out of proportion or just a BOTW jerking thread.
