It's not a bad game. It's not the greatest game ever, but I've played plenty worse. It's a perfectly fine, enjoyable game with its own amusing quirks.

So why does everyone treat it like a huge joke?

Because it is a joke.

The game itself from a technical stand point is bad.

The story and thematics though are so campy and ripped right from Twin Peaks and David Lynch, it obtained a cult following.

I personally loved the game despite all of the actual game flaws.

Because the actual gameplay is trash. The quirkiness of it all make it worth playing.

the story and characters are great, basically it's a crazy japanese dude doing his take on Twin Peaks. the gameplay is terrible but then it's full of ambitious/offbeat features like having to maintain francis york morgan's personal hygiene, every character having their own routine, etc.

DP is a quirky & charming game. it's one of those games where if you play games solely to have fun you're going to hate it, but if you are trying to look at the game critically it's fantastic

It's a remarkable game in spite of and in some cases because of its flaws.

There's a true love of the source material and the setting that Swery definitely got across.

He's proven to be an unconventional thinker in Japanese video game designers in a country where they're in danger of becoming far too predictable, joining the likes of Hideo Kojima and Yoko Taro.

My feelings on it is that part of the game was absolutely perfect for me, and the other part was so shit I had to force myself to play through it.

It's absolutely the type of game I enjoy, and the type of game that people who typically watch me play enjoy, but the combat portions were such a god awful tacked on afterthought. Personally, it ruined the game for me.

Of course I'm going to have strong feelings about a game that is simultaneously one of the best and worst games I've ever played.

i read somewhere that the publisher forced access games to add in the shooting parts at the last minute because they thought the game wouldnt sell without them
