In the Manga his power level is exactly 8000. The over 9000 thing was added to the dub for effect.

That said, the worst thing to happen to power scaling was Kaio-Ken multipliers. They got silly quickly and implied Super Sayian had to have even crazier multipliers. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
