They definitely were responsible for the murders they were accused of and their behavior proves there is absolutely no chance of rehabilitation into society. They definitely deserve their life sentence. So it wouldnt happen for lesser crimes.

Their legs would be amputated and at least one arm. Their prison cell would be a hospital room in the prison where they cannot escape from.

Do violent murderers deserve to keep the full use of their limbs?

Also the problem here is what if someone isnt actually guilty? They release people after years and years once evidence comes out proving their innocence, but in this case, you cant just glue their legs back on.

The idea of the middle east chopping off a thief's hand does make it easier for the shop keeper's to keep an eye out when they see these people walk into their stores. "A man with one hand! Better keep a close eye on this guy." America would never have the balls to implement something that like.
