I went to a barber shop that was pretty close since I didnt want to drive forever for a cut. It was not an affluent area, but I was okay with that because I believe in helping out minorities, I always have: Ive never gotten a haircut from anyone other than my mom, shes a hair dresser.

I walked in, and no one acknowledged me.. multiple barbers were in there and nothing.. I felt like I didnt belong and that pissed me off tbh. Finally one guy approached me and asked me if he could help me. Wtf? Can he help me? How about hi are you looking for a haircut?. So I tell him I want my neck and ears trimmed and split ends checked. He said he cant do split ends; I said whatever its cool.

He trimmed me for 40 min and he really put in effort. I appreciated his work because he put more heart into it than a wealthy neighborhood barber would have, I guarantee you that. So I tipped him double what the price of the cut was, I handed him $40 and he was blown away. Almost speechless, he didnt know what to say.

Why am I sharing this story? Because he cut my entire fucking face and neck. The whole time while I was receiving the cut, it hurt. I just figured it was normal and Im not used to anyones clippers but my own moms. He applied rubbing alcohol after the cut and I died inside... I went home and saw the huge cuts.

How would this even happen? Is it possible that he did this on purpose? Im gna screw this white boy type of deal? I would hate to believe that; Ive never been that type of person. Im just speechless about this. I love helping communities that are less fortunate. I love giving big tips to the workers that actually need it. But now I find it hard to go back because of this. I just cant wrap my mind around it. He mustve used a dull blade or something on purpose. Isnt it a barbers sole job to keep his blades nice.

My mom said that he just misaligned it and thats all. She said when you cut black peoples hair you have to do a up and down motion, whereas white people you do smooth lines. So its a little different. But I doubt that was the reason that left me with huge cuts.. so Idk.

Im pissed and wanted to share this.

Pics? Curious as to what you describe as "big cuts" and if you are grossly exaggerating.

I've had this happened to me before, but the only difference is im black. I'm 97% sure he didn't do it on purpose. He must not have been used to cutting caucasian hair, which was why he took so long because he didn't know what he was doing; and as for the cuts on your face, and neck, he wasn't used to cutting your kind of hair, and he made a mistake. If he did it out of racism, I don't think he would've took that long. He would've cut you up real quick, and left your hair a mess.

Im sorry you went through that, man. Barbers shops are really not like that, and i hope you can go back one day.

To be honest this is what I was thinking. People at my work were making fun of me because I paid $40 to get my face cut. In reality, he World really hard on it. Im probably just upset cus it burns in the shower lol, but the guy probably just didnt know how to adjust the blade for very thin silky hair on a white dude, like my mom mentioned as well. Is it rude for me to go back and just mention that he cut me last time, and hopefully he can adjust the blade or something this time around?

I see what you mean. Nah it's not rude. It's your hair, and you're the customer. You have a right to express the quality of service that you received, but i understand how it could be seen as rude. Usually when someone messes me up, i'll go to someone else. If you go back, mention to him, "hey man, the last haircut you gave me left some scars on my face and neck. Is it possible to adjust the blades so that doesn't happen?" He'll understand.

One time, there was someone who used to cut my hair, and i always felt like he was rushing. So one day, i told him before the cut, if he could take his time, and he did. xD

I was so picky about the way my hair was cut when i was younger, but now it doesn't bother me anymore. I learned how to cut my own hair
