I've had the damn SRS light on for 5 or 6 years now. And I am not going to spend the $200 I was quoted to check it out when it's clearly a faulty light anyway. The seatbelts are fine and so are the air bags. I keep hoping the stupid thing will burn out eventually.

LOL you just reminded me mine came on last night, but it's because I was driving in extreme rain.

I have a Saab 9-5 and they are very weather dependant...or responsive.

They live in a state where the emissions systems need to be inspected every couple of years, and a check engine light is an automatic fail.

Apparently, they don't realize not every state does that.

This must vary by state, no inspection of any sort required to renew registration here.

SRS light isn't a check-engine light, and they don't have the capability to check those in my experience. That being said, I've never heard of a shop charging $200 just to diagnose a problem - the shop I work at would only charge $75, and that charge often goes towards the repair.
