That's what gratuity fee is in other parts of the world. Don't know why america doesn't have it. Or you know, pay their fucking waitresses instead of guilting the customer into doing it.

I do based on service, everytime they do a "extra" thing they did not have to, to make my night nicer. I add $1.

So if they deliver my food and I never see them again. They do not get shit from me.

On that note, once for like a $1.80 soup. I had to pay a Japanese girl $42 as a tip xD.

...you mean how things works outside USA?

The custom of tipping originated on the consumer side, because polite servers make people want to give them a little extra.

The only possible outcome is that now everything is more expensive and over time we tip again anyway.

What ever if some person goes out of their way to fill my water over and over, bring my kids crayons and paper, makes sure everything taste good, is friendly and chats with me, keeps table nice and clean, smiles extra big everytime they approach me.

Then another throws my food down, and like 20 minutes in I have to hunt them down to get a water refill and they look pissed I took time away from their cigarette break.

I want the first one to know I appreciate their effort. I want the second one to know they can fuck off. I usually leave that type a penny, with a note on the receipt saying Tip: you should get a different job.
