It's not flip-flopping, it's recognizing the fact that the game has been completely changed. Not only did the implement almost all of the features they meant to originally, but they released everything for free two years after it was already done. I'm not saying that it erases the original so-so launch, but they could have easily taken the money and run.

My central base is on a glacial planet named Kotan. It's actually pretty sweet once you get some thermal upgrades for your exosuit. They are sweet, though, because they have plenty of resources (minerals, animals, plants), a decent amount of caves, and Frost Crystals which are the only source of glass.

I've found I just set up outposts on planets with extra resources I need and set up a portal network so I can move between. I was halfway through building an underground Uranium refinery base on scorched planet, but the game glitched and it didn't save my base.

I found a completely idyllic paradise planet, navigated to a perfect location with a beautiful view of the ocean and established a sort-of vacation house base. The planet doesn't require any hazard protection shielding, and life support basically doesn't have to be charged at all.

It was completely perfect until the storm came. 250 degree F rain.

Was it Viridescent? I did the same thing. Boiling rain. Boiling, fucking, rain.

The rest of the time, nice place, though.

I'm loving the update but it'd be nice to not have any crashes. Going to wait until the next patch at this point.

The problem is that every new content patch causes more crashes and crash fix patches become outdated as soon as their a is a new content patch. Just save frequently and keep playing. It's never going to be flawless.

I disagree to an extent. Launch was the worst shape the game has ever been in. Crashing and major graphical bugs were normal for the people who could run the game "well". However, the game definitely became much more stable over time. Even if each major update introduced some instability, there was still lots of progress being made. Just prior to Next's release, the game was pretty damn stable, despite still being poorly optimized. Next, however, has really fucked that up. Crashing still isn't as frequent as launch, but it's still pretty bad. And optimization is at an all time low.

That's fair enough. I guess my point was that waiting for it to be 'done' is a fantasy. Games like this don't really ever get finished. They just continuously get developed and new content is added and new bugs pop up. It's the nature of the game industry nowadays, I think.
