The Internet used to be more spread out between sites. Now its more centralized on sites like Facebook, Reddit, etc. There was a good info graphic about this and the change between circa 2008 and 2011 was staggering. In a few years the Internet was severely commercialized.

I definitely think the internet was better back in the 2000s or so, but I'm not sure if it's because of a lack of social media or not. That's something I never thought about...

All the normies became too interested.
It used to be a wild west of free ideas and humour and now it's a place your mother goes to shop for curtains on amazon.
