the series was actually a sequel to the movie
or at least the movies original script which went through massive changes thanks to the studio

anyway no i wouldnt want a new cast
willow, xander and giles and angel are just as iconic to the series as buffy

you can change anyone else but those 5 need to stick around (i love cordelia but she was more iconic on the show angel while on buffy she was basically given the scraps when it came to stories that focuses on her.)

I'm guessing it'll just have a Buffy character and no other similarities... I don't see the point of creating the exact same show, or even similar big bads.

this. I really do think it would be a mistake to try to bring back the side characters. it will almost certainly bomb if they try that. the only way to be safe and possibly succeed is if only buffy returns in a new universe. and then give her a different set of friends and family. the only thing that should be the same is Buffy
