It's like how the red pill cult basically ignored every single thing about the source material and they reject reality outright in place of their own ones which make them the heroes even though they're anything but.

I always saw much of the subtext as a warning about fascism.

It's funny because it's like completely missing the point of the book. Doubt most of them have actually read it.

People always miss the deeper meaning in any of these works. It's like people that watch Scorsese movies and want to imitate the lifestyles of the characters, despite the movie showing how destructive it is to them and their loved ones.

IKR. The point of it is to tell people being an incel is bad.

It's more specifically critical about modern western society's masculine construction and how toxic and destructive it is for the people who strive to achieve it and the people who have to deal with their collateral damage. It's also about our everyman protagonist coming to terms with the fact that he hates himself and is unable to self validate because he cannot embody the masculine ideal he idolizes. Worst still, he's deeply closeted. So even if he did, it would still always reject him.

Palahniuk moves on to fresh ground, too. Following the uprising, the US self-segregates into white and black ethno-states, Caucasia and Blacktopia, while gays and lesbians of all ethnicities take over California, renaming it Gaysia

I don't think anyone thinks being an incel is good or desirable.

I mean, "involuntary" is right there in the word.

I always felt it's less incel stuff and more MRA/MGTOW stuff, as well as the whole "duality of man" concept. But yeah, the book clearly portrays Tyler as not the person idolize or worship and pretty explicitly says "Tyler is wrong", where that message tends to get lost in the performances of Pitt and Norton.

The fact is the narrator himself is a massive hypocrite. He refuses to accept himself for who he is and the reality of life so he creates his own reality where he can be what he wants to be or what he theorizes is a "real man". It's just all bullshit layered on top of bullshit that ends with the bombs not going off and the narrator ending up in a psyche ward.

But more than anything I get pissed about how bastardized the term "snowflake" became as an insult.
