"Why didn't you come back to Pride Rock?"
"Well, I just needed to get out on my own; live my own life. And I did. And it's great."
"We've really needed you at home."
"Nobody needs me."
"Yes, we do."

Simba tries to run away from his responsibilities, but Nala tells him he's needed at home. This scene is immediately following "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"

She's pregnant with his child.

pretty sure his "responsibilities" had more to do with, you know, Scar taking over

but also: how would she know she was pregnant just one day after

I believe "we" is, like, the animals of pride rock, not Nala and her cub

This is obviously canon because the dust cloud spelled out sex.

Come on.

The whole movie is about taking his place in the circle of life. That means passing his genes on to the next generation. There's a responsibility that he wants to shy away from, but he has to return home and face it. You can't tell kids "it's about sex and responsibility." That wouldn't be appropriate. But you can work it into the fabric of the story.

It's like The Little Mermaid being about puberty (girl's body goes through changes, she finds a guy she likes) and parental prejudices (daddy doesn't want her dating a human). Or the X-Men being a metaphor for how LGBT individuals are perceived.

The cats did have sex. That much is canon.
