i thought we got past those dark ages where men couldn't be teachers or nurses :(.

though it takes serious skill to find a vein to insert the needle (RN's do that) it's not as bad as it sounds. it's worse getting the needle to the gums.

I get called a "nurse" at least two or three times per week, so I can attest that the stigma goes both ways and it's just silly. Nurses are extremely highly trained health care professionals, as are doctors. And either can be male or female.

Congrats.

Is it true that the test will automatically shut off if you hit the required number of correct or incorrect answers to pass or fail? that was what I heard.

Yeah that's true. Mine shut off at the minimum number, actually.

I've visted many women doctors. Where the hell do you live that people are so foreign to the idea, that they mistakenly call a lady doctor a nurse?

On the opposite end of that, I've only ever seen 1 or two male nurses, out of the 100s I've seen.

Surprisingly, I'd say older women are the most likely to call me nurse.

That said, older men are the ones who are far more likely to say they're unwilling to be treated by a female doctor. It was nice as a resident because I'd just send my intern instead. The intern would often be called "doctor" and I'd be "his nurse".

Tell you what pisses me off is when people slam midlevels for "not being doctors" and refuse to be seen by them.

I'm a doctor and my PCP is a PA. He's smarter than 95% of the doctors I know.

Just a random soap box gripe.

Oh that's really fucking annoying. Not surprised older men are likely to think that + the concept that nurses are mere handmaiden to doctors.

that's annoying too, though there's no shortage of shitty midlevels.

As someone who is going to get their DNP, I appreciate seeing physicians who don't see midlevels as idiots.
