As great as he would be to have on the team you're giving up a lot and there's a 100% chance he signs somewhere else after next season

Said the same thing about PG13 leaving OKC. You might be right, but he's a weird dude. Who knows what he's all about.

Damn, probably a good move for the raptors, tbh. Derozen wasn't helping them out in their current system.

Kinda sad they had to break your the bff pairing of lowry and derozen though.

I imagine pop is gonna have DeMar playing like a good at some point

Yeah that's about all I'm banking on. Although I really don't trust Leonard especially when he's said he has no interest in playing in Toronto

real talk though, i feel bad for derozen. He basically loved and embraced Toronto when no other nba star would. shows you just how loyal nba teams are, and I never feel bad for a team when a player decides to leave in free agency.

Yeah he is devastated to be shipped out. I wouldn't have felt as bad if they dumped Kyle but Derozen was obviously the bigger attraction

I will never fault a player for taking the money or leaving for another team. Teams always ask for loyalty until its just business. Sucks that Derozen was really invested in the team and their vision and they screwed him over.

I also saw that if Kawhi were to leave for the Lakers hell be giving up on something like $80M to do so, forfeiting the money the Spurs could have given him with a super max and the extra year and cash the Raps can give him with his bird rights. Again, all power to you if you wanna be in LA, but damn framed that way he must really wanna play there. I am a little interested to see if hell stay, however, he seems adamant about not doing so but Toronto should be a top two or three seed in the East next year.

Yeah I'm looking at it now.
If he had to stay with SA this year and resign it would have been able to be worth $221 M for 5 years.
Now that the Raptors have him, if they resign him he's able to get max $190 over 5 years.
If he leaves the Raptors for anywhere else he'll be able to sign 5 years at $141 M.

So going to LA will cost him roughly $10M per year, though he'll still be making nearly $30M.
Still though, money does talk and if he wants the money and doesn't despise Toronto once he's there the money will talk (I hope).

The tax differences are virtually the same based on playing in Toronto and LA based on what I'm reading so he's not saving there.

This is gonna be an interesting season regardless.

If he leaves Toronto, it's 4 years at 141 I believe.

I don't think it's a lock he's a laker at the end of the season. Lebron can be hard on his teammates. I don't think we'll ever really know what happened in San Antonio, but if it's pressure and expectations that shut him down, those don't lessen in Laker Gold.

I also think where the Lakers finish and where the Raptors finish could have an effect.
