I don't watch streamers. Only time I watch, is if I'm curious about the game, and it's the most readily available source to get a quick peak at it.

No it really doesn't bother me. I have never donated, but if other people do want to in exchange for the entertainment they're getting that's fine with me - keeps the channel going.

monetary worth and societal value are two different things. streamers are high-worth and low-value because they have the ability to provide a cheap product to hundreds and thousands and millions. teachers, firemen, and surgeons have practically immeasurable value to individuals (and great value to society) but what they do isn't something you can go and buy for $14 at wal-mart.

Seeing big-name streamers - and even my local friends - get some donations for entertaining an online crowd makes me jealous more than bitter. It makes me want to break into it, and I probably will once I get my game room/studio set up.

No, it's not proportional to entertainment at all. There is plenty of free entertainment. Supply is not scarce by any measure. Maybe when you try it yourself you'll get some sense knocked into you.

No, it's not proportional to entertainment at all. There is plenty of free entertainment. Supply is not scarce by any measure. Maybe when you try it yourself you'll get some sense knocked into you.

That's the way I see it. I actually prefer the model of significantly more entertainers making a modest living to having a select handful stacking millions and forcing everyone to enjoy the same thing.

There's really only a couple of streamers I watch at all, and they have one thing in common. They are a hell of a lot more charismatic and entertaining than I am. Considering where I'd like to see the entertainment industry heading into the future, I'm not bitter at them, I'm pleased with them.

Of course there are sources of free entertainment out there. Some people like to help support artists and performers. Have you never tossed a couple of bucks to a street performer or paid a few bucks for an album that was name your own price? I dunno. Maybe not.
