So you've been in a situation where someone's help is neutral or bad overall, yet you still say "He's trying to help!" like that makes it fine?

Now imagine someone is doing something that is neutral to bad for you overall, but they're doing it for their own ego. Does getting mad/annoyed at them make sense in that context?

In July 2018, Musk attempted to provide assistance to rescuers during the Tham Luang cave rescue by ordering his employees to build a "kid-size submarine". However, cave rescue officials determined his device impractical. Upon criticism from one of the divers who participated in the rescue that the submarine amounted to nothing more than a "PR stunt", adding that Musk "can stick his submarine where it hurts", Musk reasserted on Twitter that the device would have worked and made an unsubstantiated claim that the diver was a pedophile, referring to him as "pedo guy". He subsequently deleted the tweets, along with an earlier tweet in which he told another critic of the device "Stay tuned jackass". On 16 July, the diver stated that he was considering legal action in relation to Musk's comments.

If I was busy trying to save lives and some moron wouldn't shut up about his stupid fucking idea, I'd react poorly as well.

Try getting in the way of a paramedic or firefighter's business, see how nice they are.

What part? The first part (that he isn't being helpful even if he's trying to help) is clear from the people involved with the rescue saying it wasn't helpful.

The second part (that he's doing it just for his ego) is clear from when he already got pissy when

Irrelevant. I'm claiming the whole sub adventure was him stroking his own ego and his help had no positive benefit and he was arguably having a negative impact. What Twitter trolls say have little to do with that.

I get the feeling that there was a lot behind the scenes that we don't know about as well, like the rescue operators repeatedly telling Musk that they didn't want/need his submarine and yet he wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. From that point, the diver telling him to shove it makes a lot more sense.

Then again, even if that wasn't the case, Musk still went nuclear by calling him a pedophile and then doubled down on that as well before an attorney clearly told him shut the fuck up and stop opening himself up to a libel lawsuit.
