I am friends with the United States and equally with Russia, the bottom line is I think that Russia should stop being treated as a pre-1989 default enemy, and have a hand extended at it, and helped reintegrating the concert of civilised nations. Russia is fundamentally, culturally and geographically, not only a natural inherent ally of the West, but aspires to be PART of the so-called West. I don't see why hoping for appeased and friendly diplomatic relations and strengthened ties is bad ? What would you guys have instead ? WAR with Russia ? Folly.

Why should we extend a hand to a place that has now killed British civilians on UK soil?

Yes, and don't forget a lot of people have no done a 180 on that. The left, after seeing different evidence and things changing have admitted Obama was wrong.
