We spent the entire first movie thinking Darth Vader betrayed Luke's father, only for next movie to make Vader Luke's father? Completely out of the blue like that??? That's when I knew this franchise wouldn't have legs.

He made 2 bad films and three good ones (four if you count TESB). The new trilogy has had one mediocre film, and one bad film, not counting the two spin-offs.

I rewatched the prequels recently. I liked them better than the new movies.

Star Wars in general has a thing about making really good broad strokes in their stories, and then squandering it with how its actually executed.

Like, the concept of Anakins journey to the Dark side and his eventual redemption by way of his son who would go on to be instrumental in dismantling the Jedi/Sith dichotomy thats gripped the galaxy for however long, represented by two the conflict if two "Grey" force users?

Brilliant ideas. Execution? FUBAR.

This is why I like the idea of Star Wars but cant stand most of the main movies short of one off scenes. (Rogue One being almost nothing like a Star Wars movie being the only movie Ive genuinely enjoyed as a movie)
