People who think Aliens is better than Alien are really dumb.

I'm a big fan of Paul W.S Anderson and in the camp of believing he's highly misunderstood and unappreciated, Alien vs Predator works well as a cosmic horror piece but also a touching interspecies romance

Aliens is just an action movie with not enough horror, decent enough

They're both good but in different ways. Alien is more isolation and horror, Aliens is more action thriller. But there's no scene in the history of the universe more stressful than the one in Aliens where they're locked in with the face hugger. Ugh

Aliens is just an action movie with not enough horror, decent enough

I can appreciate AvP on its own schlocky terms, but Aliens feels like a proper cinematic experience. As for the interspecies romance, I didnt get that at all. Mainly because I didnt find any of the characters in AvP interesting.

I can understand why people like/prefer Aliens but it never did it for me. I always preferred Alien

Alien is a very good horror movie and has one of the most iconic scenes of all time, but Aliens does action right, is immensely quotable and has so many memorable characters. Id recommend Alien to anyone who hasnt seen it yet, but Aliens is the one I can watch over and over again.

I voted for Aliens, it's really close though, Alien and Aliens are both excellent and should pretty much be required watching for anyone aiming to make a horror or action/horror movie, respectively

Alien, but as noted, Aliens is great itself. I prefer the more "intimate" horror that is Alien.

the first alien movie is a work of art really.

aliens....was a pretty good sequel

and then for the life of me i cannot figure out how they have constantly make crap with what has to be the coolest xenomorph alien design in history. its mind blowing really.

I liked Prometheus and Covenant, to be honest.

While the sentiment is appreciated, Aliens is not just "an action movie." There's a deep story there about motherhood, for both species.

Example: In the scene where she goes back to recover Newt from the Queen's nest. Ripley knows the whole site is about to go nuclear, and could've easily walked out of the nest with the satisfaction that the xeno's and their Queen Mother were about to be dust. Instead, she wanted the Queen to feel what she felt since Ripley's family was lost and her chance to be a mother dead while she was drifting in hypersleep. Ripley gets a second chance with Newt, which was worth risking the remaining survivor's lives and her own, and the catharsis of slaughtering the xeno eggs.
