It seems all 8 are indeed connected, but that the devs "hid it" for reasons that escape me. Maybe to prevent reviewers spoiling the game or leaking details or something like that. I dunno.

But basically, it makes the Kotaku guy look like even more of a dumbass lmfao

Honestly it's kind of cool for a game to hide the plot like that. Like the object of the game isn't the "save the world", it's to explore each characters story and solve what links them together

Huh... the reviews I watched / read commented on a slow and disconnected series of "Chapter Ones" but acknowledged that things come together later in the game. Did some other reviewers get caught not playing the game or something?

The most talked about "negative" (I mean it was a 6/10) review is from Kotaku, where the guy PLOWED through a single character's story in like 2x hours, then wrote about how shitty it was that there's no overconnecting story.

It's pretty funny in hindsight tbh. Guy wanted clicks and he got them.

The Kotaku review even has a note:

NOTE: Theres been a lot of confusion over whether Octopath Travelers eight stories overlap or lead to some sort of epilogue. After finishing all eight, weve seen nothing like that. Its not clear whether the game contains any sort of bonus endgame contentNintendo says that it does, but the publisher could not tell us before publication what that content is or how to access it, only saying that it was a matter of completing the storylines and some side quests.

Basically saying we played it but can't find what they are talking about because it isn't clear. It's in the review. Why are they busted?
