Depends if there is a dress code or not.
I used to hang out in some pretty skeevy spots where anything goes.
Some places mandate that guys wear a dress shirt. Some say that jeans are not allowed.
Read up or call ahead to find out, dress down accordingly.

The gal Im going with is wearing black a leather dress. What should I wear?

Did you find out the dress code? It would suck if you couldn't get in due to not wearing the right kind of clothing.

wear what you'd normally wear on a night out. dark colours would work well with the scene.

but def find out if there is a dress code. i've been denied several times for wearing clean sneakers and nice jeans.

Depends. If by dancing club you mean actual dancing like ballroom dancing it would be a suit. If you just mean a club then anything you would on a night out.

Then put on what you normal would on a night out. With me a tend to go with Jeans, T-shit and a jacket of sorts but others would probably just put on a shirt. Depends the type of clubs really. I tend to put on something that'll fit into any type of club. Also footwear is important. Some places don't allow trainers(sneakers) because they think those that have them on will cause trouble. Although with that said any type of black footwear has never failed me. I normally get turned away when I've had too much and/or don't have I.D although the later of the two is rare these days as I'm way past drinking age and look old enough.

I overdressed

The girl I invited out invited three friends, which is fine except two were crazy drunk and we needed to take care of them all night.

And one forgot her ID.

Guys-slacks, nice shoes (women do notice, it's a cliche but it's also true) and a decent fitting shirt (don't be straining at the buttons), preferably dark in colour. We know why guys are there so just dress the part, ok?
Girls-depends what you want out of the evening. Skimpy and allowing for freedom of movement should suffice for most situations.

I dont know why I thought of a country club for dancing instead of a regular night club.

Just wear some ratty jeans and a black collared shirt with the top 7 buttons undone so your spray tan chest can gleam in it's sweaty oily glory.

Got a little tipsy. The girls that came with us all took an Uber home. Me and the girl I had initially invited went back to our hotel, and I kept her in the lobby for over an hour to talk.

It was an okay night.
