It would have thrived on FX and this was several years before networks and streamers were saving cancelled shows Mads, in my opinion, did become the better Hannibal over time and that's all due to screentime. Hopkins was so effective because his screentime was so limited in SotL. Give him too much like in Hannibal, and it isn't so great. Mads was just better at playing a charming villain Bryan Fuller as a showrunner just can't break the curse.
