"And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battles confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washd out their foul footsteps pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Let me get my knee pads and helmet on for this bit of mental gymnastics.

One fully understands that they condone and support racism, and the other is probably clueless that they support and condone it or pretend to be clueless about it.

Why don't liberals/sjw need to explain it?

Neither side sings it.

At first glance, it means that there wasn't any safety for the hired hand or the slave from the horrors of war.

That's just a guess. What's other peoples interpretations of it?

inb4 hur hur you're a conservative/racist because that's who he was aking, and you responded

I responded because I'm curious.

I suppose I should have expected something like this, instead of an actual response.

Because conservatives act as if this country wasn't constructed on the pillars of racism and inequality.

Racism and inequality were certainly massive elements to the American story. But I would say the country clearly disagreed about the role those things played in our society, hence the Civil War.

That line is in referral to the British and their allies in the war of 1812. Their allies were Indians paid for by the British (the hirelings) and the slaves were Canada, a British colony.

Instead of just pointing out that someone is wrong, explain why they are wrong, that way they can be educated, and therefore possibly bettered.

You're expecting way too much from a thread started to troll and bait. It's funny that it being acceptable to create threads like these, speaks more to the rampant shit posting on gamefaqs than it does to racism in the US.

The star spangled banner was written during the war of 1812 and the prior line refers to washing away footprints (past action) and its pollution (its effects) with blood. Not to mention that there wasnt a very strong abolitionist movement at the time.
