"Think about things like Game of Thrones," AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said at a telecom conference in May 2017. "In a mobile environment, a 60-minute episode might not be the best experience. Maybe you want a 20-minute episode." Instead of showing full-length episodes on all devices, it might be best to "curate the content uniquely for a mobile environment."

dumbing things down would explain why the game of thrones spinoff is basically the same premise as season 7 and 8 without the politics

HBO doesn't even have that many hit series in the grand scheme of things, don't they? I remember going through the list they had on their online service thing and seeing like 3-4 shows that everybody watches that I had interest in, and the rest were just kinda weird boring stuff that I couldn't get past too many eps

There's some validity to people's attention spans and ability to remain engaged in a video or movie or tv show. They have metrics as far as people changing channels at certain intervals. And YouTube itself provides analytics for average time watched for videos.

The problem is the context. No one has complained about the length of Game of Thrones or Stranger Things or Walking Dead. But YouTube videos are more likely to benefit from shorter lengths. Sounds like this guy is trying to argue a case from one context into another.

Thank God this is the last season of Thrones. None of these stupid ideas will probably come to pass, but it's best they just get out while they can to be safe.

Yea but the people behind GoT have a new show planned called Confederate. And these decisions could affect that show. It's supposed to take GoT's place as the new big HBO hit

Yes. It's more common now. That's why you can even find those apps on your phones app store. More people probably watch shows on phones than tablets or even on computers probably

OK you can be "more profitable" or an industry leading creative force with premium IP or you can make garbage that people will stop paying good money for.
