I had watched an episode of everybody hates chris and found out about this concept of food stamps that the episode mentions. Now I'm curious if they exist and can be used for organicy type shops

Not sure how it work in other states, but in California EBT Food Stamps can be used on any food item, except alcohol. WIC Checks specifically state the items you can get on the checks, and typically it's only the most basic/healthy type.

Maybe some people itt are unfamiliar with whole foods and trader Joes? They're not typically a tobacco alcohol lottery establishment, they're sort of like these places that sell organicy type foods and the like, usually at higher cost than regular grocery stores.

for a time costco didn't take EBT despite the food being uncooked. glad they changed it over time. i shop there every month and save on dinner items compared to supermarket.

That would be advantageous, to be able to use food stamps to get organic and/or healthy food.

tomatoes. i really need to pick one up. but the store doesn't open for 3 hours :(.
they're the vegetable of choice for any sandwich.

tends to mold pretty quick so i have to cut into the tomato to stop that process (may be house related).

You can use food stamps on food. Doesnt matter if its organic or a bag of chips.

It's pretty bullshit that they consider individual slices or cheese (Kraft singles) a "pre prepared" food.

Sounds like a strange state specific thing.

it's a load of BS TBH if there's certain restrictions. (though i'm all for removing some items that can be bought from EBT) just energy drinks and soda from my POV. others probably would go farther down the list.

if they want those items they have to pay up with some greenbacks.
