I give him tons of attention every day. but sometimes it's never enough. many times he just walks around meowing constantly until I pet him. and it wouldn't be as bad if he would just come over to me on the couch or whatever. but he often insists on me coming to him. which is annoying if I am trying to do something. he's like a big kitten. he just always needs comfort. I wonder if it is from being given up by his first owner. he was left in care of a charity organization because the owner couldn't afford or wanted to pay for his surgery to remove his rotten teeth. (he has no teeth now. like that when i got him) maybe he got messed up from that and now is afraid of being alone

Do you ever just talk back to him when he meows

I do that with my cats then they come over

Several of my cats are intensely needy. Duchess Mallory Von Fluffenbotton is the worst when it comes to walking around the house screaming for attention. All day every day. She's too cute to ignore.

She was hand raised by humans and has never had a hard day in her life though. Some cats are just attention whores.

last cat was more independent but it tolerated petting and it hated to be picked up.

My cats do meow to each other, just not like conversations or anything. There's a particular set of howls and trills that they use to get another cat to come play with them when they're feeling crazy. And of course mama cats do meow to their kittens as well.
