Cat had bad vomiting on Thursday all day then a little on Friday morning. Puking stopped but he also stopped eating. Then he was getting lethargic

2 vet exams and x-rays and blood work show nothing. He had to get saline for his dehydration and he's on some meds to see if his digestion will go again

He still won't eat so I've had to syringe fed him wet down emergency food every few hours. His poor gut is still really gassy. He's getting more energy and not puking but no one likes this syringe feeding

If this keeps up he needs a third visit and ultrasound and then possibly surgery

Sorry. Sometimes before I fall asleep I look over at my dog looking all peacefully asleep and think "If something happened to you Im afraid to know how Id handle it". Some people will never understand how strong a connection between a animal and human can be. I think part of it's having something around you know isn't judging you.

I have had this cat since he was a feral barn kitten. We're very bonded. It just crushes me seeing him feel unwell.

This morning I cuddled him on the floor and he was purring in my arms leaning his head into me and staring at my face and I had to keep from crying on him

He's normally a super loud in your face cat and the house is so quiet without his yelling

My dog died in my arms last Sunday, literally the day before we left on a family vacation. She got "bloat" and because it was Canada day long weekend no vets were even open. I rushed her to the emergency vet clinic but she died on the way. We took her and buried her at the spot we go to every May long weekend so we can at least visit her every year and because she loved that place.

That's so heartbreaking. I'm sorry for your loss. That's very sweet of you to lay her to rest in a beloved area.

I am a bad pet owner trying to do what I can to keep my cat healthy until Monday. If he's still not eating I'll get him for an ultrasound without the weekend emergency admission fees.

TC i hope that they can help your cat before it's too late and to the guy with the dog. i'm sorry for your loss i'm definitely going to be heartbroken if my dog ever dies as well (it's probably going to die from cancer or old age) history might repeat itself but rather it be later than now.

i lost about 400$ myself from the dog's hematoma of the ear but it was emergency savings at the time in case something happened. would part away with some of the money if it meant fixing its issue.

My wife (veterinary technician, 14 years) suggests to return to the original veterinarian to run more tests, or find another veterinarian for a second opinion. She says that this sounds like a "foreign body", and not everything can be seen by x-ray. At this point, your cat is likely in kidney failure due to not eating. Blood work should confirm this, the next step is probably either ultrasound (which may still show nothing) a second x-ray (which may show a "gas pattern", indicating a blockage) or an exploratory surgery.

Has your cat been peeing/pooping? If not, this may be a sign of other conditions. Be sure to tell the veterinarian everything, no matter how insignificant, because your cat cannot tell them what is wrong.

This is not a diagnosis, and should not be taken as such. Any delay in treatment could cause an unfavorable outcome. It's Monday, get it done.

I wish you and your little friend all the best.

I've been syringe feeding him a slurry of a/d and water every few hours to ensure he at least has some calories going through his body. He's still drinking and urinating and he is thankfully not dehydrated again.

He originally got blood work and 2 x-rays done which showed no hard foreign body and no signs of toxicity from something ingested. The vet did say he was extremely bloated

The vet said it was likely either a soft object causing a blockage or possibly issues from him eating a fuckton of bread on Thursday. There was no signs of him being backed up. Can't be sure without further testing which was not possible at that time. He has been on appetite stimulants, anti nausea, metronidazole, and had saline, in the hopes that if he was just feeling unwell after puke fest he may start eating again.

He's going back to the vet today he has a 3:15 appointment booked and we'll go from there. He is right now cuddled at my feet purring

Happy update

My cat seems to be regaining his appetite and energy. We went to the vet to just get him checked out, the vet was impressed at how much he improved. She said it was unlikely that it was a serious blockage as he would have been in steep decline. His hydration was good. So we're doing more smelly food

As soon as I got him home he ate. I only let him have a bit of the food but he licked his dish clean. He's back to grooming himself and jumping on me.

He's basically acting normal now minus mild bloat and no poop (yet)

Could have been a bout of pancreatitis.. who knows really. Glad to hear he's doing well.

Had a cat present the other day with nearly same symptoms and that's what the Dr on the case was saying.

Thank you. I want to thank the staff for their great attentive work and going above and beyond. I'm not sure if a thank you card from a client is appreciated

My old housemates cat had a bit of pancreatitis and was like that. Bad vomiting, lethargic, no appetite, bounced back after 4 days or so (and over $1000 at the vet). He was totally fine after that

Might want you to talk to your vet about steroids. I had a similar situation with a young cat but the steroids help reduce symptoms and it makes them really hungry so they eat

I diagnosed your cat and found the problem.

He was reading the Smash Bros Ultimate boards.

Tell him to stop and he should be okay.

Cat update: he's being totally normal. Maybe even more lovey. Still no poop but it should come soon. Maybe I missed it. Just fed him a small meal loaded with probiotics and locked him in a room with me (and litter and water) so hopefully it gets him moving
